Sapporo Snow Festival attracts 2 million visitors and my bestie and I were 2 of them.
Weather: It snowed every day and was crazy windy. The high was in the 20’s (F). We had a nice sunny Saturday. For the first time in my life, I used the pocket warmers they gave out.
Food: Crab, scallops, oysters, lamb were the local specialties and they were fantastic.
Activities: Not only were there enormous sculptures, there were shows and ski jumpers. We did 2 laps on cross-country skis as well. If the kids were there, it would have been a lot of fun – ice slides, snow tube rides, and ice skating.
Organization: 2,000,000 people in the same place looking at the same thing can be a bit much but the long rectangular park was turned into 1 way direction and prevented many of the issues for the tight space. They had buses to the other locations which I went to Sunday afternoon.
The best part of the trip was hanging out with my friend and the second was the hotel didn’t have internet. It was nice to unplug!
