Kappabashi – Woks, Wisks, and Wax Food

Kappabashi is a famous restuarant supply district in Tokyo that is open to the public.  They have wax food, cooking equipment and supplies, as well as serving wear.  This neighborhood is one of my favorites in Tokyo.

I know what you’re thinking – wax food??

Were it not for restaurants showing their menu in plastic or wax form in the window, it would be much more difficult to order for a non-Japanese reader.

  1. Fab photos! Love the plastic food! Today we found a semi-secret Japanese “restaurant” (i.e. a little unmarked door with a few tables inside) run by an actual Japanese man (the others here are all Chinese). No menu – just eat what he’s go, but closest thing we’ve gotten in Italy…
